UNIT 29 AND 30: What equipment do I need for documentary photography?

Cameras:

I find that you can shoot documentary photography with any type of camera because the camera is the device which records the photograph, it is the person operating the camera who makes the image. When I go to photograph my own documentary photography I will be using my Nikon D3300 because that is the better camera I own and I am more use to this camera than my other camera.

Lenses:

With lenses I think a 50mm lens is best because 50mm is roughly what our eyes see. The 50mm lens I think will give an interment feeling to the image because a 50mm lens is a short zoom so I will have to move close to people which will give the interment feel to the image.

Tripod:

I personally think a tripod is not needed when doing documentary photography because it slows you down when you need to be fast. I personally think a tripod is needed when it comes to other forms of location photography such as architecture because it helps with keeping the building sharp. So when I am doing my own documentary shoot I am going to not bring a tripod because I will need to react to what happens when I am out shooting.

in conclusion, during my shoots I will be using my Nikon D3300 camera attached with a 18mm-55mm lens because I want to get that intimacy I have found during the homeless people case study. I will not be bringing my tripod because it will slow me down and may miss opportunities for good images.
